Andover Day by Andover Chamber.

It’s back. And it’s bigger than ever.

Andover Days kicks off Wednesday, with local businesses and restaurants offering prizes, specials and discounts. Andover Day was not held in 2020 and 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic. This year’s event is being run by the Andover Chamber of Commerce, a unit of the Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Andover Chamber Chair Paul J. Salafia told the select board at its Sept. 12 meeting that planning began four months ago with 30 downtown businesses for a “reimagined Andover Day,” which ultimately became this year’s multi-day event.

In addition to the shopping specials throughout the rest of the week, events will kick off with a few firsts on Friday night: there will be an outdoor screening of “Field of Dreams” on Andover Town Common at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by fireworks at dusk.

On Saturday, more than 200 vendors (including Andover News!) will take over downtown Andover from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition to food, entertainment and music by local bands, there will be a biergarten by Oak & Iron Brewery. The Andover Farmers Market will set up behind Old Town Hall and there will be a Sustainability Fair in the parking lot between Old Andover Village and Café Nero featuring over 25 sustainability organizations.

“We’ve been sold out for weeks — we can no longer add any more businesses,” Salafia said.

A number of downtown streets will be closed from 4 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Expect delays and see the map below for detours:

Stop by the Andover News tent near Cafe Nerro and the post office to say hello, learn more about what we’re doing and to enter our contest for a chance to win a $100 gift card to La Fina.
