The state legislature passed a $3.79 billion economic development bill Thursday that includes $350,000 for two projects in Andover.

The bill includes $250,000 for park and recreation improvements at the Chandler Road Recreation Area and $100,000 for the Tucker Family Field behind the Doherty Middle School to support youth recreation and sports. The town acquired the 44.41 property at 138 Chandler Road (map, above) earlier this year and has held a series of preliminary, community forums to discuss potential plans for converting the tract into a recreation area.

The brunt of the bill includes hundreds of millions of dollars for MBTA, housing, health and human service workers, and climate resilient programs, but did not include tax relief measures that had originally been included at the end of formal sessions in July. The nixed tax relief proposals included increased child care and dependent care tax credits, senior circuit breaker credits, earned income tax credits, a higher rental deduction cap, and an overhaul of the estate tax.
