Fall, curbside leaf collection in Andover will begin on Oct. 17 and run through Dec. 2, with no collection during Thanksgiving week (Nov. 21-25).

The Department of Public Works says only leaves in paper bags or open barrels will be collected: no plastic bags, rocks, stones, branches or stumps will be collected. You can dispose of bundled branches during weekly trash collection.

The leaf collection truck is separate from the household trash truck. Collections can sometimes fall behind during high demand periods; leave bags at the curb until they are collected.

Andover residents can also get a permit for the Bald Hill Compost Site for $25 per year from the Municipal Services Facility at 5 Campanelli Drive between 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The facility only accepts cash or checks.

The facility is scheduled to close on Dec. 3 this year, weather permitting.
