Andover Little League’s Under-12 team lost its first game of the Section 4 Tournament 6-0 to Peabody West, the defending state champs, in Lynn Wednesday.

Andover advanced to the sectionals by winning the Massachusetts District 14 tournament earlier this month. The winner of that tournament will be one of four teams to play for the state championship in Braintree on July 29-31. That tournament will be followed by regional play, leading up to next month’s Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

In Wednesday’s other Section 4 game, Reading beat Gloucester 7-4.

Andover is back on the field Thursday to face Gloucester and will round out group play in the tournament when it faces Reading on Friday. The top two teams in group play for the Section 4 Championship on Saturday at 2:30.
