After more than two decades of service with the Andover Police Department, Lt. Edward J. Guy III has left his post to become the new Police Chief in Hamilton.

Guy was honored at a farewell brunch on Thursday, June 26, where colleagues, friends, and family gathered to recognize his 21-year career in Andover.

During his tenure, Guy served in a variety of roles including patrol officer, substance abuse detective, shift commander, and support services lieutenant. Most recently, he held the position of Executive Officer, where he oversaw daily operations, supervised the detective division and dispatch, managed public communications, and acted as second-in-command to Police Chief Patrick Keefe.

Before joining the Andover Police Department, Guy served with the Methuen Police Department and is a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Guy was officially sworn in this week as Chief of Police in Hamilton, where he will lead a department he described as “community-focused, well-trained, and deeply professional.” He brings more than 30 years of experience to the new role and is a graduate of both the FBI National Academy and Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command.

The Andover Police Department has not yet announced plans to fill the vacant Executive Officer position.
