Andover Public Schools students will participate in bus evacuation drills required under Massachusetts law next week.

“We wanted you to be notified in advance in order for you to discuss the topic with your child if it arises at home,” APS transportation director Cindy Button said in a note to families Tuesday. “Parents are urged to support the district and promote bus safety by encouraging their children to apply safety measures while walking to and from the bus stop, as well as riding on the bus to and from school.”

The drills are being coordinated by APS, Andover police and Trombly, the district’s transportation provider.

Most drills will be conducted at the start of the school day on the following dates:

Monday, April 24: Andover High School, West Middle School, West Elementary School, South Elementary School.

Tuesday, April 25: Wood Hill Elementary School, High Plain Elementary School, Sanborn Elementary School. Sanborn’s drill will be conducted at dismissal.

Wednesday, April 26: Doherty Middle School, Bancroft Elementary School
