The town is seeking a new director of sustainability to succeed Joyce Losick-Yang, who has left municipal government to become director of decarbonization for New Ecology, a Boston-based non-profit which specializes in “green” building and development.

Losick-Yang, hired in 2019, was Andover’s first director of sustainability. In announcing her departure, Town Manager Andrew Flanagan lauded her accomplishments, including obtaining nearly $3 million in grants to promote and support sustainability and climate action in local projects, being the “drivng force” behind publication of the town’s first Climate Action and Sustainability Plan in 2023 and a two-day climate summit in 2022.

Flanagan called her a valuable team member “widely regarded as a statewide leader in the municipal sustainability space.”

The sustainability director’s position is budgeted for $102,148 for the fiscal year starting July 1, according to Phil Geoffroy, the town’s director of communications.
