Andover Public Schools is accepting bids for a comprehensive security assessment of all its schools announced last month.

According to the request for proposals, which was posted Monday, the firm selected to complete the assessment will:

  • Review existing security systems
  • Review security policies and procedures
  • Assess weaknesses
  • Make risk reduction recommendations
  • Assist the school district in prioritizing the recommendations
  • Receive input from public safety, school administrators, facilities and other relevant constituents

Bids are due Sept. 15, and the school district will hold a pre-proposal site conference on Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at the Andover Public Schools Central Office at 30 Whittier Court.

Earlier this month, APS named Andover Police Officer Thomas Paolera the new school resource officer at Andover High School. Superintendent Magda Parvey said the decision to have a resource officer at AHS for the 2022-23 school year comes as part of a review of district safety practices.
