Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker signed the state’s $52.7 billion budget Thursday morning, which includes more than $110 million for schools to continue offering free meals to students.

All APS students can receive a free breakfast and lunch during the 2022-23 school year. Andover’s contingent in the state legislature, including Sen. Barry Finegold, and Reps. Tram Nguyen and Frank Moran all supported the budget when it was passed last week.

“I wanted to share this good news with our families,” Superintendent Magda Parvey said in a note sent to APS families shortly after Baker signed the state spending plan. “The APS Food and Nutrition Department will send additional details as we approach the start of the school year.”

The budget also includes $12.17 million in Chapter 70 funding for APS, up 2.8 percent from $11.84 million in the Fiscal Year 2022 state budget. Statewide, the budget raises school funding 9 percent.
