As the holidays start to wind down, it’s a good time to review Andover’s policies for Christmas tree disposal.

There is no special day for Christmas tree collection in Andover, in case you’re the type who doesn;t get around to putting away the Christmas decorations until Valentine’s Day. Christmas trees are collected as part of your regular trash pickup, and are considered your one bulky item for that week. All decorations must be removed, and trees over 7 feet need to be cut in half.

“The holiday season results in the highest trash volume of the year,” the Department of Public Works says on its Website. “Trash must take priority over trees if volumes, weather or other factors threaten the completion of daily trash routes. Trees left will be picked up at a later date.”
