Police arrested a 25-year-old Lawrence man in connection with a string of recent car break-ins and thefts in Andover.

Alexander Hand was arrested Friday on an outstanding warrant out of Haverhill charging him with receiving a stolen motor vehicle and other charges. Hand was charged with three counts of larceny connected to the Andover break-ins after his arrest.

More charges are expected.

“The Andover Police detectives have done a fantastic job of investigating, locating and arresting this individual who has victimized numerous people in Andover and neighboring communities,” Andover Police Chief Patrick Keefe said in a statement. “People should feel safe in their homes and neighborhoods without being worried about being victimized.”

Hand is believed to have acted alone. Police have been able to recover some of the items that were stolen.

There have been a string of reported garage and car break-ins Downtown and in Shawsheen Heights in recent weeks.
