The Andover Health Division regularly inspects restaurants and stores that serve and sell food. Andover News reviewed reports from inspections conducted between June 1 and Aug. 21.

“In general, the establishments are in good shape,” Andover Public Health Director Thomas Carbone said. “For many of these establishments, this round of inspections is the first official inspection in a couple of years as we dealt with Covid-19, so we are seeing some issues with paperwork and minor procedural things. This isn’t unusual, and we are working with them to get the issues addressed.”

The information below is taken from inspection reports Carbone provided to Andover News and includes the number of violations for each restaurant and notes on what caused the violation. None of the reports reviewed contained violations that would be considered serious, and in many cases the violations were fixed while the inspector was still on site or within a day after the inspection.

“The reports do not always reflect the nuances of the regulations, and very few establishments will have ‘no violations’,” Carbone said. “Our inspection program is designed to assist the establishments in providing a safe product for their customers; compliance with the food code is the best way to ensure that safety.”
