The Andover Health Division regularly inspects restaurants and stores that serve and sell food. Andover News reviewed reports from health inspections conducted during the month of February.

Andover News publishes reports monthly. It’s important to note it’s not unusual for a restaurant to have a few minor infractions in a report.

Pre-opening inspection. Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • None.

Brooksy’s, 90 Main Street, on March 27
Pre-opening inspection. Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • None.

Chateau, 131 River Road, on March 17
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • Insects, rodents, & animals not present (Observed pest control logs, sights of cockroaches and rodent activity; observed back door next to paper good storage area with visibility of outdoors. Pest control reports show recommendation for door sweep as well).
  • Food & non-food contact surfaces cleanable, properly designed, constructed & used (Observed walk- in refrigerator near warewashing area not properly self latching).
  • Non-food contact surfaces clean (Food storage area- observed dust and grease debris behind and under ice maker. Observed TMTC rodent droppings behind canned food holder. Cookline- observed floor sink near pizza oven with food/debris build up. Observed double door refrigerator “Atosa” fans with dust accumulation. Observed cookline floor with black grease debris).
  • Plumbing installed; proper backflow devices (observed handsink @ breading station not properly draining and leaking).
  • Adequate ventilation & lighting; designated areas used (strong smell around warewashing station, grease/sewage combination).

  • Insects, rodents, & animals not present (Establishment continues to treat with the help of pest control company a roach and mice issue. Observed a live roach in cookline area).

  • Non-food contact surfaces clean (observed hood crates with grease accumulation. Food debris and grease on cookline area floor under grill and double burner, underneath fryolator,and freezer holding frozen fries, mozzarella stick).
  • Hot & cold water available; adequate pressure (observed no hot water in restroom, currently using sink directly outside of bathroom and hand sink in restaurant).

Ultimate Perk, 92-96A Main Street, on March 22
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • Insects, rodents, & animals not present (observed rodent dropping sides of freezer in backroom holding frozen bagels and next to safe located in office area).
  • Physical facilities installed, maintained, & clean (backdoor need to be properly sealed to prevent pest from entering establishment).
  • Observed non compliant straws, plastic straws and 2oz portion cups holding cream cheese.

  • Insects, rodents, & animals not present (observed rodent droppings in dry storage behind flour bins).
  • Non-food contact surfaces clean.
  • Hot & cold water available; adequate pressure (low hot water pressure in H.S located next to prep sink).
  • Noncompliant coffee cup lids and 2 oz salad dressing portion cups.
