The Andover Select Board will kick off Andover Days at 9 a.m. Saturday with a ceremonial “perambulation” with officials from Lawrence and North Andover.

Massachusetts state law requires at least two selectmen to locate and mark town boundaries every five years and record the proceedings with the town clerk. The law dates back to an earlier era, when boundaries were more fluid.

Select Board Chair Alex Vispoli said he expects the ceremony to take about 15 or 20 minutes. It will be held at the place where High Street in Andover meets Waverly Road in North Andover, around the corner from the Boston Market. The Town Managers from each town will join select board members from Andover and North Andover.

“It’s a busy street, so be careful,” Vispoli said
