The Andover Planning Department is in the process of reviewing a site permit to convert the former home of the Andover Townsman into apartments.

The Townsman closed its Andover office at 33 Chestnut Street in March 2020, when its staff began working remotely at the start of the pandemic. The paper’s staff moved to the headquarters of the Eagle-Tribune, its sister paper, at 100 Turnpike Street in North Andover.

The building was listed for sale in November 2021. The pending plan calls for three units and about 6,900 square feet of living space. The application was submitted on March 28, and a revised site plan was submitted April 6.
