The Andover Select Board approved a beer and wine license for Brooksy’s Pizza on Monday. The new restaurant is taking over the space at 90 Main Street that was previously occupied by Bertucci’s, which closed is Andover location earlier this year.

Here’s what we know about the new restaurant so far:

Owner Brooks Rice (above), of Reading, has worked in restaurants for more than 25 years, but the upscale pizza restaurant will be the first he has owned. Rice is hoping the restaurant will be open by the end of September.

The restaurant will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will have seating for 59 people. Rice expects the new restaurant to create 15 jobs.

The select board’s approval was the last local approval Brooksy’s Pizza needed before opening. The restaurant space is still being remodeled, and the state still needs to give final approval to the beer and wine license, but Rice said he would open for food service only if the space is done before the final liquor license approval goes through.
