4 things to know today:
  • The Merrimack Valley YMCA is collecting gift donations for a kids and teens wishlist. Check out the list if you can help.
  • The Andover Health Division says 84 percent of Andover residents have at least two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 59 percent have been boosted. But only 27 percent of Andover residents have their second booster. You can help raise those stats when the health division holds its "Vaccinate During Winter Break" from 1-4 p.m. at the Robb Centter on Dec. 27. Flu shts will also be available. Registration is required.
  • Andover police are warning that the "grandparents scam has a reared its ugly head" again. The phone scam targets elderly people and often presents a scenario where and grandchild is in trouble and needs money. Learn how to protect yourself.
  • The Andover Water Division will be conducting fire flow tests today beginning at 8 a.m. at 23 Main Street. Water may be discolored in the areas of Main, Elm, Chestnut, Essex, Central, and Pearson Streets. If you have discolorations, run your cold water until the water clears.
Sports: AHS boys hockey (2-0) beat Waltham 6-3 on Thursday. Junior Joe Marcel scored his first varsity goal...AHS boys swimming defeated Lowell/North Andover 91-80 on Thursday...(compiled from the Boston Globe and other media reports).
