Andover Public Schools are closed Friday, thanks to an overnight wind storm that left more than a third of the town waking up without power.

A high-wind warning remains in effect through 7 a.m. Saturday. The heaviest rain is expected to end midday, but we could see scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, along with strong winds and gusts up to 40 MPH.

More than 66,000 electric customers were without power as of 8:01 a.m. Friday, including 5,210, or 36 percent, of National Grid customers in Andover The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency is warning those numbers are expected to grow as the storm continues into early Saturday, and restoration times could be lengthy.

National Grid has not offered an estimated power restoration time for Andover.
