Good morning, Andover! Here's your daily rundown of everything happening in town for Friday, Dec. 30, courtesy of Andover News.

A.M. Briefing

- Based on a reader tips, I've started looking into the homeless camp under the I-495 interchange at the Andover-Lawrence line. That's the kind of story that will take some time. In the meantime, I highly recommend watching The People Under The Bridge, a 15-minute video from Lazarus House Ministries that explores the homelessness problem in Lawrence.
- I'll be holding publisher's office hours next Thursday, Jan. 5, from 9:15 to 11 a.m. at Town Market Andover (429 South Main Street). This is a chance to drop in, say hello, ask questions, make suggestions or register complaints. Just look for a big bald guy buried in a laptop. I plan to hold office hours monthly going forward, and I'll mix up the times and locations to make sure anyone in town who wants to pop in has a chance. Event details on Facebook.
- I've added some more events to the New Year's Eve Things To Do post.
Sports: AHS girls basketball beat Pentucket 63-44 Wednesday and will face North Andover in the finals of the Commonwealth Motors Christmas Classic at Merrimack College on Friday. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. The team held the top spot in the Boston Globe rankings released Thursday... AHS boys basketball lost its semi-final game 73-60 to Beverly Wednesday in the tournament and will play Central Catholic at 4:15 today for third place.
|
Weather: Clouds roll in ahead of rain that is going to be with most of the weekend. High of 54 today, low of 41 tonight. Showers begin Saturday afternoon, with a 90% chance of rain at night. High of 54. Rain continues Sunday morning with skies clearing in the afternoon.High of 53 (Weather Channel).
