Two Things To Know Today:

  1. Late Calendar Addition: Phillips Academy alum and author Charles Finch will be at Andover Bookstore today to discuss his new book, "What Just Happened: Notes on a Long Year." The book looks at the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 with "unwavering humanity and light-footed humor," according to the Boston Globe, which named it one of its best books of 2022. Call 978-475-0143 for more details and to make sure the snow has not impacted the event.
  2. The Town of Andover's first electric vehicle charging station opened Downtown at 89 Main Street last week. The Level 2 charging station will be open 24 hours a day, and costs $1.50 per hour for use, with an additional charge after 4 hours (more info).

Sports

  • The AHS girls' hockey team (14-3-2, 3rd seed) hosts Pembroke in the MIAA Division 2 tournament at 2 p.m today at the Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury. Pembroke (13-6-1) was seeded 14th in the tournament.
  • The AHS boys basketball team was eliminated from the Division I state tournament with a heartbreaking 71-69, overtime loss to visiting Springfield Central Thursday. The Warriors finished the season at 13-8.
