The fireworks were in jeopardy of being canceled after the article approving $14,000 for the display was amended at Annual Town Meeting to require the Town to only use fully biodegradable fireworks.

Four Things To Know Today
  1. Central Street is closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. today (more info).
  2. SHED Children's campus is collecting donations for a scholarship fund in memory of Sidney Olson. Andover News readers contributed more than $3,000 to the effort.

Sports: Monday's Scores
  • Third-ranked Central Catholic (14-2) beat eight-ranked AHS baseball (11-4) 2-1 with a walk off single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
  • AHS boys' volleyball took a home game from Billerica, 3-0.
  • AHS girls' tennis couldn't get past Boston Latin, falling 5-0.
  • North Andover won 8-4 over AHS softball.
