A.M. Briefing

Five Things To Know Today:
  1. See a dramatic photo of Monday's fire that destroyed a Lowell Street Home.
  2. Tomorrow is an early release day for Andover Public Schools. Andover High and middle school students will be done for the day at 11:30 a.m. Elementary schools kids head home at 12:15 p.m. (more info).
  3. Don't fawn over a fawn: Andover Animal Control has advice on what to do if you find a baby deer.
  4. I'll be speaking the past, present and future of local news at the Robb Center on June 27 at 1:30 p.m. More than 2,500 local newspapers in the U.S. have closed since 2005, and the closures are continuing at a rate of about two per week. Corporate owners have gutted newsroom staffs at the surviving papers. I'll be talking about what this means for the communities like ours and independent efforts like Andover News to fill.
  5. Sorry! I'm not sure why yesterday's newsletter, which I scheduled to send at 7 a.m., did not go out until around noon. Hopefully you're reading this at the proper time.
Weather: Some Like It Hot
Sunny, high of 92. Clear tonight, low of 62.
