Reports of a search for a criminal suspect in south Andover prompted at least one preschool to go on lockdown Thursday morning.

A person who answered the phone at Primrose School of Andover at 503 Main Street were safe and regular programming was continuing as normal. The school went on lockdown to be "overly cautious."

It was not clear whether Massachusetts State Police or Andover Police were in pursuit of the suspect. The school is located close to the junction of Routes 125 and Route 28
