The following press release was submitted by Element Care PACE and does not necessarily reflect the views of Andover News:

The annual walk for Alzheimer’s is taking place on Sunday, October 6 at 200 Brickstone Square in Andover. So far, over 3,000 walkers and 258 teams have registered!

This is the second year Element Care PACE is sponsoring and participating in the walk in honor of patients who have Alzheimer’s, their families and employees with their own personal ties to this disease.

Alzheimer’s affects 7 million Americans, and one in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. In 2024, Alzheimer’s and other dementias will cost the U.S. $360 billion, and the number is expected to rise to nearly $1 trillion by 2050.

Would you be interested in attending/reporting on this annual event?

There will also be a Promise Garden, which is a mission-focused experience that signifies solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the Promise Garden Flowers represent participants’ connection to Alzheimer’s — their reasons to end the disease.

  • Blue: Someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
  • Purple: An individual who has lost someone to the disease.
  • Yellow: A person who is currently supporting or caring for someone living with Alzheimer’s.
  • Orange: A participant who supports the cause and the Association’s vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and other dementia.

The walk committee has been working hard to make event day special this year with a new and improved site layout, team poster making station, larger team photo area, enhanced kids’ activities and NEW Celebration of Cultures with on-stage performances from different community groups.

Here’s a rundown of the day:
