Andover will join thousands of communities across the U.S. in hosting a ‘No Kings Day’ rally on Saturday.
With rallies timed opposite a planned military parade in D.C., organizers aim to shift public attention to grassroots power rather than performative displays.
“On Saturday, June 14–Flag Day–our wannabe dictator is holding a military parade in D.C. as a made-for-TV show of dominance,” the Swing Blue Alliance, which is organizing the event, said in a statement. “But the real power is in OUR hands as we take to the streets across the country, not to feed his ego, but to steal attention from his obscene parade and show how enormous our movement is. Bring friends to help prove that point.”
In addition to the military parade, June 14 is flag day and President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.
Locally, the rally is being organized by Greater Andover Indivisible. There will be a rally from 4 to 5 p.m. at a location that will be given to participants when they register.
Organizers stress that this is a peaceful, family-friendly protest focused on nonviolent expression and conflict de-escalation. Attendees are asked to leave weapons—even legally permitted ones—at home.
