The Edmonton Oilers sent Andover native Shane Lachance to the New Jersey Devils as part of a three-way deal ahead of Friday’s National Hockey League Trade deadline.
Lachance is currently a sophomore at Boston University, where he has 10 goals and 25 assists in 32 games. The Oilers drafted Lachance in the sixth round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The Devils received Lachance for retaining 50 percent of Trent Frederic’s contract, who the Bruins sent to Edmonton.
Lachance comes from a hockey family. His father Scott played 13 seasons in the NHL for the Islanders, Canadiens, Canucks, and Blue Jackets after being drafted fourth overall in the 1991 draft. His grandfather is legendary Boston University coach Jack Parker.
Lachance played two years at Andover High School before transferring to Tabor Academy.
