Andover and Massachusetts State Police arrested a suspect accused of assaulting an officer following a high-speed chase and a search in a residential neighborhood off of River Road Wednesday.
Andover police were called to assist in the search after the suspect, who was described on radio transmissions as a Hispanic man wearing all black, a white head covering, and Croc shoes, jumped out of his car and fled on foot on River Road around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
The search passed through several backyards. Shortly after the foot search began, police located the suspect’s Crocs. Police used drones and canine units in the search. The Town of Andover sent out a reverse 911 message to residents in the area of River Road and Cross Street alerting them of the search.
The suspect’s identity has not been released and other details of the assault and pursuit were not immediately available Thursday morning.
