Adventure is coming to Andover’s trails this summer with the launch of the first-ever Andover Youth and Family Treasure Hunt, running from June 14 through June 22. The event, designed for children aged 12 and under and their families, is free to join and promises fun, exploration—and even a chance to win a small piece of real gold.
Organized by local trail enthusiasts, the event challenges families to search for a hidden token located along a well-known trail featured in the Andover Trails Guide. The token will be placed at a child’s eye level, about three feet off the ground, ensuring young adventurers lead the way.
The lucky finder can exchange the token for a gold snowflake valued between $100 and $200. However, only those who officially register are eligible to claim the prize. Family members of event organizers are not eligible to win.
To take part, families must register online at andovertrails.org/treasure or via Eventbrite. Registered participants will receive a new map and a set of clues each day to guide their search.
Organizers say the hunt is a great opportunity to get outside, explore local trails, and enjoy some family-friendly competition. With daily clues and the allure of buried treasure, Andover’s youth may just discover a love for the outdoors—and perhaps a bit of gold along the way.
