Since Thomas Edison’s assistant Edward Johnson strung together the first set of Christmas lights in 1882, there’s been a subset of the population in a never-ending competition to go bigger, brighter, and, often, more outrageous each December.

And a lot of those people live in Andover.

We asked Andover News readers to nominate their favorite holiday light displays in town, then spent a night driving around to take in the spectacle and take photos to share. We’ve also put together an interactive map below in case you want to grab a thermos of hot chocolate and take the drive yourself.
