The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency named Andover Public Schools one of the recipients of its 2023 Clean School Bus Program, enabling the district to get rebates on the purchase of 25 electric school buses with NRT Bus, its transportation vendor.

“The addition of these new buses is great news for the district,” Superintendent Magda Parvey said in a news release. “In 2022, the district made a commitment to providing sustainable transportation to our students, and I am thrilled we can add to our fleet. Once these buses are in service, 75% of our buses will support a clean and healthy environment for Andover.”

The district has had five electric buses in its fleet since 2022.

“NRT Bus welcomes the funding to support the introduction of 25 fully battery electric buses into our fleet for Andover Public Schools,” said Tim Sheehan, Senior Vice President of NRT Bus. “Adding more electric buses in our communities will support a cleaner environment for our students and schools and reduce our overall carbon footprint. We thank the Environmental Protection Agency and our partners for working together to incorporate this important technology into our fleet as we continue to provide reliable and safe transportation.”
