Jay Atkinson, who Mens Health once called “the bard of New England toughness,” will be at Andover Bookstore Saturday to sign copies of his latest short story collection.
Atkinson, of Methuen, teaches writing at Boston University. Two of his books, Ice Time and Legends of Winter Hill, were bestsellers.
The Tree Stand, which Atkinson is currently promoting, is a collection of short stories of “hardscrabble living and crushing blows, shot through with seams of love and hope.” Atkinson spent nine years working on the collection.
Atkinson will be at Andover Bookstore from 3:30-5 on Saturday. The store is located downtown at 74 Main Street.
