Dave Copeland, editor and board member

Dave Copeland founded Andover News as an independent, nonpartisan, reader-supported news service in June 2022. Prior to founding Andover News, he was a regional managing editor for Patch.com, where he oversaw a team of 10 journalists covering local news in 110 communities in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Copeland has also worked as a staff writer for the Boston Globe, the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, and the Dow Jones News Service, and is the author of “Blood & Volume: Inside New York’s Israeli Mafia” (Barricade Books, 2007). He lives in Andover with his wife and children.

Neil Fater, president

Neil Fater is a former Andover newspaper editor and reporter who now works as the faculty advisor to the award-winning The Phillipian high-school student newspaper at Phillips Academy in Andover. A graduate of Tufts University, he served as an editor of The Tufts Daily, before joining his hometown Andover Townsman as a reporter. He served for 13 years as an editor of the Townsman and as an editor of the Eagle-Tribune, winning dozens of individual awards and leading a small team of reporters to dozens more. These honors ranged from earning a first place in New England for Racial and Ethnic Reporting (New England Press Association) during his first months as a reporter, to earning a national Editorial Writer of the Year Award during his last months as editor. A graduate of Andover High, Doherty Middle and South Elementary schools in Andover, he now lives in Haverhill with his three children.

Rosemary Lappin, board member

Rosemary Lappin is an Emmy Award-winning television news producer. During her more than 40 years as a journalist she has worked in newspaper, radio, all-news radio and television news. As a kid growing up in Dracut, Lappin would listen for the sound of the Lowell Sun hitting her screen door. Years later she would write for that newspaper during summer break from Simmons College. After receiving her masters in broadcast journalism from Boston University she reported and anchored for WLLH Radio Lowell and Lawrence. At Boston’s all-news radio station WEEI, Lappin held the position of executive editor and managing editor in the CBS-owned broadcast newsroom. And at Channel 5 Boston, Lappin spent the next 29 years covering the State House and political conventions, producing dozens of debates for governor, US Senate and Congress. Lappin is also the founding producer of Boston’s most-watched Sunday political show “On The Record.” She and her husband Brian C. Mooney for 30 years have lived in Andover where they raised their daughter Meredith.

Kaylee Le, clerk

Kaylee Le is the founder and owner of Love Green, a thriving small local business known for its fresh beverages and food, and wellness. With a passion for nutrition and an authentic commitment to using whole-foods ingredients, Kaylee has transformed her vision into a community space. Kaylee’s journey started with a background in Business Administration and Organizational Psychology, which she studied at Salem State University. In 2020, Kaylee started her business at the local farmers’ market, before finally opening her first storefront in North Andover. Her vision was to create a space where people could enjoy delicious, nutrient-packed beverages and food without compromising on taste. She says each recipe is crafted with precision and care, emphasizing her culture and sustainable practices. Under Kaylee’s leadership, Love Green has flourished, earning a reputation for quality and an amazing staff. She has a strong belief in the power of healthy relationships, believing food can transform one’s lifestyle.

Brian C. Mooney, treasurer

Brian C. Mooney was a reporter and columnist for the Boston Globe and other newspapers for nearly 40 years, the last 25 at the Globe, where he covered national and state politics and government and for five years was part of the newspaper’s award-winning investigative unit, The Spotlight Team. He was a member of the teams that won a Gerald Loeb Award in 1992 for distinguished business and financial journalism for its series on public pension abuses as well as other national awards for Spotlight series on financial exploitation of the elderly and medical malpractice. He also wrote a Globe political column for seven years and was four times named “Best of Boston” columnist or reporter by Boston Magazine. In 2004, he was co-author of “John F. Kerry: The Boston Globe Biography” (Public Affairs). Prior to that he was a political and investigative reporter at The Boston Herald and The Sun of Lowell where he won numerous awards. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross. Mooney and his wife, Rosemary Lappin Mooney, have resided in Andover for 30 years.
