The following press release was submitted by the Friends of Haggetts Pond and does not necessarily reflect the views of Andover News:
The Friends of Haggetts Pond, Inc. is a
non-profit corporation that encourages public use and quiet enjoyment of
the Haggetts Pond Trail and provides advocacy for trail maintenance and preservation.
On a bright sunny Saturday morning, a group of local volunteers of all ages gathered to clean up the area around Haggetts Pond and the surrounding priority habitat.
Nearly 20 bags of trash and an abandoned canoe were removed from the site with the help of the Department of Public Works.
It was a successful event and a great day for our drinking water and one of Andover’s natural treasures.
The Friends of Haggetts Pond, Inc. would like to thank all the volunteers for their dedication and hard work.
Public participation sends a positive message about environmental stewardship and how important it is for community involvement in the preservation of this vital local ecosystem.
