A coyote nipped an Andover resident after the two startled one another Monday morning.
Neither coyote nor person was seriously injured, and Andover Animal Control Office Katy Kozikowski said in a Facebook post the coyote’s reaction was “not…out of its natural” behavior.”
The person, who was not identified, was lifting a lid off a trash barrel when they we both “caught off guard, causing the coyote to panic and nip at the person’s pant leg.” The person did not initially know they were injured, but sought medical attention after noticing a small mark like a “finger nail scratch.”
Andover animal Control reported the incident to Massachusetts Environmental Police.
