I am writing to express my strong support for Emily DiCesaro’s candidacy for re-election to the Andover School Committee. Emily is a dedicated advocate for our children’s education, a thoughtful steward of our resources, and a leader who has shown an unwavering commitment to our community.
In this election, outside interest groups are pushing their agenda on Andover. The Andover Education Association and Massachusetts Teachers Association are bringing money from outside of Andover to sway opinion in our town. Inexperienced and easily influenced candidates may not see why this is a problem. But as citizens it is. The school committee negotiates union contracts, sets policy, and manages the superintendent’s performance. All of these are in direct conflict with the interests of those groups. We need school committee members to be impartial and driven for the education of our students regardless of influence from special interests.
Our school committee members need to lead our schools into the future. Leadership takes experience, collaboration, listening skills, and commitment to education for our children. Emily has demonstrated all these skills in her first term. She took the initiative to attend the Andover Leadership Academy, gaining hands-on experience with every municipal department to better serve our town. Her work on the subcommittee that successfully negotiated a contract renewal for school food service workers exemplifies her ability to collaborate effectively and manage resources responsibly. As representative to the permanent town building advisory committee, Emily ensured that our students’ educational needs are addressed in projects at Doherty and the High School.
Emily has proven she has the dedication, patience, and vision to continue improving Andover’s schools. I urge my fellow residents to support her on Election Day. Please remember to vote on Tuesday, March 25!
