I am writing in support of Emily DiCesaro’s reelection to the Andover School Committee. For many years, I have had the fortune to call Emily a close friend. We are both mothers of two children in the Andover school system and have had many conversations about our children’s experiences. Emily comes from a family of educators and social workers and with her School Committee experience continues the family tradition of advocating for successful schools and meeting diverse student needs. Through her work on the Racial Climate and Reporting Working Group, Emily has collaborated to make programs in Andover more accessible to underrepresented members of our community. Similarly, she works to ensure that our schools are a place where each child knows they belong and has the resources, opportunities and support they need to thrive.

In addition to her three years of experience on the School Committee, Emily attended the Andover Leadership Academy which afforded her hands on training and interactions with our town’s various municipal departments. While she has gained valuable experience in budgetary and contractual matters (including her success in renewing the food service workers union’s contract) she continues to collaborate with stakeholders and educate herself on the workings of the town to make balanced and fair decisions. Emily knows it will be crucial to communicate with the unions, teachers, parents and administrators with equity and empathy. In my years of knowing Emily, these are values she holds close and has the experience to employ. I hope you will join me on Tuesday, March 25th to vote for Emily!
