An Andover medical technology company plans to cut about 125 jobs next year as it exits the insulin patch pump business, according to a filing with the MassHire Department of Career Services.
Embecta said the layoffs will take place between February and August, with the majority coming in February. All but seven of the employees being cut are located at the company’s Andover site on Bulfinch Drive and are in engineering and research and development.
Embecta said earlier this month it’s patch pump for diabetes patients would require additions to be competitive. The company plans to use the money saved from the layoffs to paydown debt.
