A global energy management company is adding a data center and microgrid testing labs to its research and development facility in Andover.
With the addition of two labs, Schneider Electric now has 41 labs at its U.S. research lab on Federal Street. The company has invested about $2.4 billion in R&D over the past year.
“As AI revolutionizes industries and consumers demand more data for digital services, the need for data centers continues to rapidly expand,” Pankaj Sharma, Executive Vice President, Data Centers & Networks at Schneider Electric, said. “Additionally, industrial environments, businesses, municipalities, hospitals, and schools are seeking resilient solutions for their energy needs, and microgrids offer a terrific solution. These new R&D labs will help us deliver future-proof, reliable and efficient energy solutions to our customers.”
Schneider expects about 18,000 visitors per year to the 53,000-square-foor Innovation Hub in Andover. The lab allows customers to make real-world evaluation of Schneider’s products.
