Lexington Battle Green, Massachusetts

The Andover Center for History & Culture is planning a pair of events to mark the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, including a guided bus tour of the route Andover soldiers took to Lexington in 1775.

The center will partner with the Andover Bookstore to present a lecture and book signing by Eric Jay Dolin, author of Rebels at Sea: Privateering In The American Revolution. Privateers, though often seen as profiteers and pirates, were in fact critical to the Revolution’s outcome. Abounding with tales of daring maneuvers and deadly encounters, Rebels at Sea presents the American Revolution as rarely seen before.

The event will be held at the History Center, 6 Locke Street, at 6:30 p.m. on March 27. Tickets are $10 and you can register online.

On April 19, the Center will partner with the North Andover Historical Society to mark the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord with guided bus tours at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

In addition to following the route Andover patriots took on April 19, 1775, the tour includes the North Parish steeple tour and viewing of “The Aspirations of Ordinary People,” an exhibit at the NAHS Stevens Center. Each tour is limited to 40 people, and you can register online.
