Andover Fire Rescue responded to a two-alarm fire at 23 Salem Street early Friday morning.
The house on the edge of the Phillips Academy campus had flames on the side of the building when Andover police first arrived on the scene just after midnight. All the residents were safely evacuated.
Firefighters from Tewksbury and Lawrence assisted at the scene, while trucks from the North Andover, Methuen, and Wilmington Fire Departments worked station coverage. The fire was put out around 1:37 a.m., according to scanner reports. The scene was cleared by 3:15 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
