Local student-athletes from the Shawsheen Shredders cycling team delivered notable performances at a recent New England Youth Cycling (NEYC) regional race.
Avery Pimentel and Freddy Porter each earned first-place finishes in their respective divisions, receiving the NEYC “Leader” jerseys awarded to top competitors. Amelia Cogliano also placed highly, finishing second in a competitive field.
The team, which includes riders from Andover and North Andover, competed alongside youth cyclists from across the region. Coaches and supporters noted the group’s teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment throughout the event.
The NEYC league, supported by sponsors including Shimano and Landry’s Bicycles, emphasizes inclusivity and personal development through cycling. The organization provides student-athletes with opportunities to train, race, and grow in a structured, encouraging environment.
The recent results add to a growing list of accomplishments for the Shawsheen Shredders, reflecting the team’s continued progress in regional competition.
