The Andover School Committee unanimously elected Shauna Murray chair at its workshop Thursday night.

Murray will begin her one-year term at the committee’s first meeting following annual town meeting on April 29. Murray was also unanimously elected interim vice chair, taking over for Sandis Wright, who lost his bid for reelection in Tuesday’s local election.

Current Chair Lauren Conoscenti was elected to serve as vice chair following town meeting in a 3-2 vote. Newly-elected school committee members Christopher Shepley and Jacob Tamarkin cast the dissenting votes. Earlier this week they were targeted in a get-out-the-vote Conoscenti sent to supporters in the waning hours of the campaign.

Murray was elected to the school committee in 2024 in her first run for elected office. She is a high school English teacher at Nashua, NH’s South High School, and she and her husband Rory have daughters in 6th and 1st grade. More about Shauna Murray.
