AHS alum and Andover native Katie Nam continues to impress on the singing circuit. Nam made it to the semi-finals of the 7th Annual NextGen National singing competition earlier this month and ranked 30th out of 240th entrants.
Nam is a familiar local face to anyone who caught her performances in student productions at Andover High School, including The Music Man and the Andover Cabaret. You can watch some of Nam’s performances while she was a student at AHS on YouTube.
In May, Nam, who graduated from Andover High School in 2019 and from New York University with a bachelor’s degree in music , kicked off NYU’s 2023 commencement with a pitch-perfect performance of the National Anthem at Yankee system (video). She’s currently working on a master’s in music at Indiana University.

Eddie Mukalazi, a senior at Andover High School, has been selected to represent Massachusetts in the 62nd annual United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) Washington Week. The program is a national scholarship competition that selects two students from each state to participate in a week-long educational experience in Washington, D.C.
Mukalazi, along with Juliana Lee of Duxbury, was chosen based on his academic achievements, leadership qualities, and commitment to public service. As part of the 104 national student delegation, he will receive a $10,000 college scholarship for undergraduate study.
The USSYP is designed to provide student-delegates with an in-depth knowledge of the American political process and instill a lifelong commitment to public service. The program is sponsored by the Senate and funded by the Hearst Foundations.
