More than 100 people gathered at the new West Elementary School and Shawsheen Preschool Friday to formally open the building with a ribbon cutting.

Principal Mary Ellen Carideo-Cobbs and fifth grade students led attendees in the pledge of allegiance:

Superintendent Magda Parvey said the $168 million building allows for enhanced collaboration, project-based learning, and team teaching.
