Raytheon secured a $536 million contract from the U.S. Navy to support and upgrade its SPY-6 family of radars, the company announced Tuesday.

The deal, awarded as a sole-source follow-on to a previous Integration and Production Support contract, includes modernization of Flight IIA Arleigh Burke-class destroyers with the SPY-6(V)4 radar variant. Under the agreement, Raytheon will continue providing engineering services, training, ship installation, system integration, software updates, and testing support.

“SPY-6 is the most advanced radar in the U.S. naval fleet, providing ships a new level of defense against evolving threats,” said Barbara Borgonovi, president of Naval Power at Raytheon. “This contract highlights the essential role of this technology in supporting the U.S. Navy’s technology roadmap for several decades to come.”

Currently, SPY-6 systems are operational on two Navy vessels, with installations on three more ships scheduled for 2025. The radar is expected to be deployed on more than 60 ships over the next decade, significantly enhancing the fleet’s defense against air, surface, and ballistic missile threats.

Work on the latest contract is expected to be completed by May 2026.
