The Andover Health Division regularly inspects restaurants, stores, schools, and other establishments that serve and sell food, and Andover News publishes the inspections reports monthly. It’s important to note it’s not unusual for a restaurant to have a few minor infractions in a report.

Restaurants

Good Day Cafe, 165 Haverhill Street, on Jan. 15
Areas where the establishment was out of compliance:

  • Good Day Cafe, will be utilizing the YMCA existing kitchen formerly used for educational purposes to conduct prep work.
  • Prior to operations, designated hand sink must have soap and drying provisions available.
  • Hood must be inspected and recertified.
  • Ice machine will have to be washed and sanitized.
  • Designated hand sink must have soap and drying provisions available.

Mootone, 15 Railroad Street, on Jan. 30
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • Observed hood inspection sticker 90 days past due for inspection.
  • Observed hand sink blocked in kitchen.
  • Observed ice machine with grime build up inside and dirty on the outside.
  • Observed cutting board with both sides extremely cut. Needs to be replaced.
  • Observed hood filters with grease debris.
  • Observed ceiling tiles in women bathroom with water damage.
  • Observed distilled water used to test rice ph with 2023 Best Buy date.

Teatone, 17 Railroad Street, on Jan. 28
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • Observed rice cooker with left over rice from the night before.
  • Observed cooking station with food debris from prior night.
  • Observed PIC dispose of day-old rice in trash and then proceed to put dirty rice cooker in bin. He was instructed to remove and wash, rinse & sanitize.
  • Observed dirty rags on top of food prep table.
  • Observed hinge on walk in refrigerator broken. Walk in door not self latching.
  • Observed hood filters with grease build up.
  • Observed prep sink without signage.
  • Observed floor throughout establishment dirty with food and grease debris.
  • Entire establishment needs a deep cleaning and organization.

Stores

Andover Classic Wines, 209 North Main Street, on Jan. 13
Areas where the establishment was out of compliance:

  • None.

CVS, 68 Main Street, on Jan. 31
Areas where the establishment was out of compliance:

  • Vomit and diarrhea procedures insufficient; missing employee PPE and disinfection specific to bodily fluids.
  • Women’s restroom observed without a closed receptacle.

Shawsheen Village Liquors, 2 Poor Street, on Jan. 13
Areas where the establishment was out of compliance:

  • Employee restroom did not have closed receptacle.

Schools, Churches & Daycare

No inspections in Janaury.


Other Establishments

Andover Jams, 83 Gould Road, on Jan. 21
Areas where the establishment was out of compliance:

  • None.

Energy North, 309 Lowell Street, on Jan. 29
Areas where the establishment was out of compliance:

  • Turkey and cheese wheat wedge observed at 45*F. PIC voluntarily discarded.

LTD Refreshment, 40 Shattuck Road, on Jan. 3
Areas where the establishment was out of compliance:

  • Ambient thermometer not observed in cooler storing RTE, TCS foods.
  • Ham and Swiss sandwich observed with sell by date of 12/29.
  • Packaged easy eggs observed with use by date of 12/31.

Planet Fitness, 209 North Main Street, on Jan. 3
Areas where the establishment was out of compliance:

  • None.

Springhill Suites, 550 Minuteman Road, on Jan. 9
Areas where the establishment was out of compliance:

  • None.
