Chili’s, Grassfields, Doherty Middle: November Restaurant Inspections

The Andover Health Division regularly inspects restaurants, stores, schools, and other establishments that serve and sell food, and Andover News publishes the inspections reports monthly. It’s important to note it’s not unusual for a restaurant to have a few minor infractions in a report.

Restaurants

Chili’s Grill & Bar, 131 River Road, on Nov. 1
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

• Observed walk in freezer with ice build up around door and door not properly self latching.
• Observed non-compliant straws and plastic utensils.

Grassfields, 207 North Main Street, on Nov. 7
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

• Observed fruit flies in bar area behind trash and next to glass washer.
• Observed ice machine with dust and mold accumulation.
• Observed non-compliant plastic straws, bar straws and plastic utensils.4

Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

Pablo’s Taco Truck, food truck, on Nov. 21
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

• None.

Stores

Restaurant Depot, 148-bldg2 Dascomb Road, on Nov. 16
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

• Observed blocked handsink at bag prep area and at meat packaging area.
• Observed mice dropping throughout establishment, potatoes station, produce area and cold receiving area.
• Observed stock fish stored without lid, container had mice droppings.
• Observed 3 bay sink at fish station not set up and test strips that had been expired for a year.
• Observed walls, floors and floor drains throughout establishment that need cleaning.
• Observed hand sink located at produce area not draining (establishment was working of fixing plumbing issues by the time establishment was left).
• Observed hand sink at meat and fish station leaking from pedestal.
• Observed walk in door not self latching and metal side broken off.
• Observed multiple dock/receiving areas open to external and off rails.

Schools & Daycare

Doherty Middle School, 50 Bartlet Street, on Nov. 1
Areas where the establishment was out of compliance:

• Observed rodent droppings in dry storage area under first moving rack to the left.
• Observed non-compliant plastic spoons and fork, plastic cups for water and 2 oz portion cups holding cranberry sauce.

Other Establishments

Andover Manor, 89 Morton Street, on Nov. 7
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

• No food service director available at the time of arrival for inspection. No clear manager on duty.
• No soap in the only hand sink in kitchen area.
• Observed TMTC fruit flies throughout the kitchen but also specific to old walk in refrigerator now used for dry storage area and in soft drink prep area.
• Observed soft drink gun-like dispenser with accumulation and fruit flies around it.
• Observed employee greet us at front door wearing gloves and entering kitchen with the same gloves and continue operations.
• Dirty bowls in rinse compartment.
• Observed old walk in not functioning, door was taken down and used as dry storage area. Mechanical present and not functioning.
• Observed walk in freezer with door not self-latching and ice build up all around door.
• Non-compliant plastic cups, bowls and cup lids and utensils.

Andover Manor, 89 Morton Street, on Nov. 15 (re-inspection)
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

• Establishment continue to have a fruit flies problem, however the number has decrease, and they continue working with pest control.
• Observed non-complaint styrofoam plates, plastic lids and plastic utensils.

Courtyard by Marriott, 10 Campanelli Drive, on Nov. 16
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

• Observed non-compliant plastic utensils and 4 oz portion cups.

Eurest @ Mercury Systems, 57 River Road, on Nov. 16
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

• None.
