The Andover Health Division regularly inspects restaurants, stores, schools, and other establishments that serve and sell food, and Andover News publishes the inspections reports monthly. It’s important to note it’s not unusual for a restaurant to have a few minor infractions in a report.

The reports below are broken into four categories: restaurants, stores, schools, and other establishments, which can include daycare centers, nursing homes, hotels and other facilities that serve food.

The following food trucks and Andover Farmers Market vendors were inspected in August: Olivia Organics, Uhlman’s Ice Cream, Ultimate Concessions


Restaurants

Crack’d Kitchen, 321-325 Lowell Street, on Sept. 12
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • Dishes in handwash sink closest to freezer.
  • Handwash sink blocked.
  • Sanitizer tested at 0ppm in bucket located in prep area.
  • Employee drinks stored on food prep surfaces.
  • Sanitizer bucket stored on food prep surfaces.
  • Handles in contact with food at smoothly station.
  • Ice scoop stored on old milk crate.
  • Dish temp thermometer not recording temperature correctly.

Domino’s, 63 Park Street, on Sept. 12
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • Sanitizer tested at 0ppm.Clean equipment used for food prep adjacent to handwash sink and subjected to potential contamination.
  • No sanitizer test strips available.

Indulge India, 36-42 Park Street, on Sept. 21
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • New employee kept putting chemical bottles and hand wash sink several times during the inspection.
  • Sanitizer bottles not labeled.

Karma, 209 North Main Street, on Sept. 21
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • Hand washing was not set up even though food prep and cooking had started.
  • No hand wash soap available to use.
  • Samples not covered when stored/on display. Food not protected from environmental contamination.
  • Sanitizer tested too low.
  • The temperature of the Raw salmon in the Reach-In sushi Cooler was 47 degrees.
  • Food items not covered while not in use/protected from environmental contamination.
  • Cleaned equipment and utensils and items used to store food stored on/directly adjacent to street sewer.

Pon de Joy, Main Street, on Sept. 27
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • Observed individual wrapped donut with no proper label.

Raagini Indian Bistro, 209 North Main Street, on Sept. 21
Areas where establishment was out of compliance:

  • No handwashing set up, and no soap.
  • Sanitizer bucket was too strong.
  • Rice at 120 degrees, and Samosa veggie turner overs at 113.

Stores

Andover Wine Merchant, 63 Park Street, on Sept. 19

  • None.

Whole Foods, 40 Railroad Street, on Sept. 5

Schools, Churches & Daycare

Bancroft Elementary School, 15 Bancroft Road, on Sept. 30

Doherty Middle School, 50 Bartlet Street, on Sept. 27

  • Observed mice dropping behind grease interceptor.

Sanborn Elementary School, 90 Lovejoy Road, on Sept. 24

South Elementary School, 55 Woburn Street, on Sept 30

  • Observed freezer with ice build up around the door.
    Door not properly self latching or closing all the way

West Middle School, 70 Shawsheen Road, on Sept. 30

  • None.

Wood Hill Middle/High Plain Elementary Schools, 333 High Plain Road, on Sept. 25

Melmark New England, 461 River Road, Sept. 12
Areas where the establishment was out of compliance:

  • Observed HS located at cook area with sufficient pressure or hot water.

Sebastian’s, 200 Minuteman Road, on Sept. 25

  • Observed walk in cooler not self latching.
