I lived in North Andover for 12 years and at that time, they had recycling pick up every week. Much to my dismay and surprise, Andover only picks up every other week which I discovered after I already moved. I was dumbfounded how a town with higher taxes did not have weekly recycling. When I called DPW, they said to me angrily over the phone, well North Andover has their own dump, China isn’t taking trash or recycling anymore and was hung up on.
I am now almost a 6-year resident of Andover, and I have reached the breaking point of jumping through hoops storing my recycling for every other week pick up. The town refuses to change. Are there more people in this boat who want change like me? Why is this the case here? Can we make a change? I thought Andover was into sustainability. Sadly, North Andover is like Andover now with biweekly pick up as I just googled. Why – budget cuts?
