Parents looking for help talking with their kids about last week’s double murder-suicide on Porter Road in Andover can consult a list of resources Andover Public Schools made available last week.

In addition to places to get help with domestic abuse and violence, the list includes information about talking with kids about murder, suicide, and violent death.

Investigators believe Andrew Robinson, 56, shot and killed his wife Linda, 55, and his son Sebastian, 12, shortly after the 911 call was placed at 3:21 a.m. According to a recording of dispatchers talking to officers on scene, a man’s voice yelling “Just kill me now!” could be heard on the 911 call.

Andover Police Chief Patrick Keefe (right, photo) said police had not been called to the $2 million home before.

If you or someone you know needs help, call 9-8-8 or the National Suicide Prevention hotline at 1-800-273-8255. You can also reach the Crisis Text Line by texting ‘Home’ to 741741 anytime.

The school district also made counselors available for students and staff who had trouble coping with Thursday’s double murder-suicide

“We recognize the Andover community may have known the victims and this news may be difficult for our students and staff,” Superintendent Magda Parvey said in a note to families Thursday. “We encourage anyone who needs assistance as a result of today’s tragedy to reach out to a counselor or social worker in the coming days.”

Andover Police Thank Community

Andover police thanked the community “for the outpouring of well wishes and support” in the wake of the chilling events. In addition to stressing the need to get help with mental health problems, Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker (left, photo) stressed the toll responding to such calls takes on first responders.

“These can take an emotional toll as well, we’re always concerned about their wellbeing,” Tucker said. “These men and women do an extraordinary job under some very difficult circumstances.”
